Lillian Chen is a visual development artist and illustrator with experience in environment designs and collaborative teamwork. She has a love for adventures.

Previously, Lillian was the lead artist and environment illustrator for an indie game group, called White Box Gaming. She collaborated with the artists on the team on project assets such as UI, icons, and logo design.

She has a BFA in  Visual Development at the Academy of Art University (AAU) and a second BFA in Interactive Multimedia from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).

Her story

Lillian grew up in the small town of West Caldwell, New Jersey for most of her early life, excluding the many summer trips to Taiwan to visit relatives during vacations, and the recent move to California.

Growing up, drawing was a hobby she loved spending her time on, alongside reading many Nancy Drew mystery novels and playing video games. Time went by and other genres like fantasy, science fiction and superheroes influenced her from cartoons, movies, books and comics, and the idea of developing her own characters in the setting of her favorite series came to fruition.

Years, and many filled sketchbooks later, Lillian decided to try creating her own world through her art, by sketching out comic pages, designing story characters and more. Many revisions of those first few pages were created but nothing stuck; Lillian realized she needed to improve her drawing skills, and thus art school.

Now, the world that Lillian had created as a teen, in those 5  small notebooks, was a large side project with an ever expanding designs folder. The desire to create worlds also traveled to her work outside of the large personal project, as each illustration and concept has a story to tell.
